A very cost-effective home theater system

Problem:

  1.  A few days ago, the customer reported: It does not allow sound from ps5 to apple tv to homepod (520ARC).

Improve：

  1. We have therefore modified the product details page: Change the hdmi  switch to port 1 when using the ARC function.
  2. ut the product we designed has more powerful functions. This is a fantastic product. If the settings are correct, you can play the sound of PS5 through Homepod.

Today we will talk in detail about how to set it up. We use SONY / SAMSUNG / LG’s three brands
of televisions, and we have tested one of their 4K 120Hz televisions. Most of these three brands of televisions have similar ARC functions to these three televisions.

Let’s take SONY TV and 520ARC as examples：

 

  1. TV: 55X9100H
  2. Games console： XBOX series x / PS5
  3. TV BOX: APPLE TV 4K A2843
  4. Audio system: APPLE Homepod
  5. Hdmi switch: 321ARC 521ARC 520ARC

Just do it

  1. Connect APPLE TV 4K in port 1 of 520ARC, XBOX SERVES X in port 3, and PS5 in port 4.  Change the hdmi switch to port 1.

  2. Set Homepod as the speaker system for the TV. Realize TV sound playback from Homepod. Note: Set the APP TV 4K and Homepod to the same room. For some unknown reason, I cannot successfully implement the Homepod ARC function by setting the room as a home theater. I set Homepod to the living room, and also set APP TV 4K to play in Airplay and Homekit to the living room. At this point, you can see in the video and audio options that the default audio device can be selected to the Homepod in the living room. Select it and set the TV sound output to ARC. At this time, the TV will black out for a few seconds, and then the setting is successful. Go back to the home page of the TV and find a video to play. The sound of the TV is played through Homepod. At this point, we have correctly set the ARC function of Homepod.
  3. Change the switch to port 3 and the TV to HDMI3 ARC. At this time, you don’t need to set it. After a few seconds, the sound of XBOX will be output through Homepod.

    Using the same method to test PS5, it works perfectly.

We are not sure why the customer was unable to successfully set up this feature. Because the ARC function itself is very complex, it may be caused by other reasons. But if you encounter the same problem, you can write an email to us and our FAE engineer will solve the problem for you.

    We have identified a minor issue during testing. When setting up EARC for the first time, there might be an issue with displaying correctly after the setup is complete. In this case, press the number 1 on the remote control, and the entire system will perform a handshake again. After completion, it will display normally. This method also applies when there is difficulty displaying when switching to channels 1-5 at times. Simply press the corresponding number on the remote control, and the system will initiate a handshake again, correcting the display.
